I see alot of pictures at paylakes holding fish up for pictures by the jaw?
My question is. Does it hurt the fish?
I have always been told that it does and they will not eat and die if it dislocates there jaws. Even where we trap and get fish from says the same thing.
If the fish is dropped it can bust the air sac and kill them.
At our lake we will not let anyone hold the fish at all so we do not take any chances on them dieing.
Do you agree or disagree that it can hurt the fish?

It can hurt them. Its best to have some of the fish's weight supported by the ground (lay its tail on the ground and hold its head up). Holding one all the way in the air is bad, and dropping one will kill it. Holding them makes them look bigger in pictures. Also, I've never held a blue by its mouth.

I agree. Should not hold them up because if you drop them they will most likely die.

Doesn't putting a fish that belongs in the river in a little pond hurt it anyway? So why care how you hold it, the poor thing is living a miserable life anyway. Might as well put it out of it's misery. Depends on how big it is. If it is under 40 lbs i don't think it hurts the fish. Who cares if it is put into a different environment than it is used to? People have to make a living some way, and some people chose to run a paylake. Is that wrong?

It's wrong because when the people who supply these fish to the paylakes poach these fish from rivers, it hurts the fish population in the river, where real fishermen fish. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but let me remind you that you are on a paylake website. You will lose any argument that you try to start here. You are free to post here, but lets keep the negativity to a minimum. I don't want any silly arguments here. We do have boards for both public reservoirs and rivers.

really doesnt matter how big fish is - they twist and turn with your hand in their mouth and you can definately break their jaw or drop them

YA IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE YOU CAUGHT THE FISH THE QUESTION IS SHOULD YOU HOLD A FISH. IF YOU DROP IT YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE KILLED IT. MY IDEA WAY IS TO TAKE GOOD CARE OF THE FISH GET YOUR PICTURE, WEIGHT,AND HOPFULLY JACKPOT MONEY AND RELEASE THE FISH AS HEALTHY AS IS WAS WHEN YOU CAUGH IT PAYLAKE POND OR RIVER.....

I am glad you all agree with me.
By the way, I take great pride in keeping our lake water very healthy and our fish healthy. We have cleaner water than the river and they have been fishing the rivers for more than 60 years.

i wont hold a blue either there jaws are way stronger than a shovels. i will hold small shovles because ive been taught if you hold em right they wont flop. but i wont hold anything over 20lbs. because i cant handle it. but i respect that you like to keep your fish healthy so if i cant hold one so what. oh and on the note of poaching fish whatever when you take fish out of the river that provides more fish to come in. so the fish produce more. so thhhhhhhhhhhhh
