I live in maineville and i have never used skipjack for bait. I have paylaked for about 6 years now and from what ive seen they are one of the best cut baits. I was wondering if there were any spots within about 60 miles from were i am to catch them and is the ohio river the only place to catch them? I would also like to know what kind of bait/lure to use and how to fish it.
Thanks for any help Bobby

I’m not 100% sure about this but I think Skipjack only live in rivers. Never heard of people catching them out of lakes. The love fast moving currant. To catch them you use a sabiki rig witch you can find at Bass Pro.

i was up at EZ this past sunday annd talked to a guy that said he seen a 17 pound skipjack caught at ez? ?? but if you go to tanners creek at the mouth there is a discharge cast in the middle of the rushing water and reel in slowly and if i were u i would make your own bait rigs the ones from bass pro break easy..... or use a rooster tail

I agree with Randy. I have caught a ten pound channel on one before and it didn't break until i tried to drag it up a long, steep bank.

I'm heading out to Aberdeen Tuesday, never been.... so is there a parking area around the power plant or do you pull off the side of the road? Trying not to get my car towed or ticketed. Also, are ther spots to fish from the bank? Going to try to throw out a couple poles for catfish while trying for skips. Never really done river fishing, paylaker. Any help would be appreciated.

Im not sure about the parking, but there are plenty of places to fish from the bank. Make sure you have atleast a 3oz sinkers when catfishing lol.

THERE IS A PLACE TO PARK BUT IT'S A GOOD LITTLE WALK TO THE RIVER. DRESS WARM CAUSE THAT WIND OFF THE RIVER IS COLD AS A WELL DIGGER'S A-WHOLE.
