butlersbeagles wouldn't you want to use a leader that is equal to or smaller than your main line. Because if you get hung up then you are more than likely going to lose everything. If you use a smaller # test leader it will only break you leader and you will get almost everything back.

The main reason i use the leaders is because of the shovelheads rubbing their mouth on the line when the swallow the bait to the gut.

I use 30lb Penn Fluorocarbon Leader Material, or Hi Seas Fluorocarbon Leader Material. This stuff works great. We use our leaders about 10" long. I never use a leader longer then my float so it does not get tangled up.

Because if you get hung up then you are more than likely going to lose everything. If you use a smaller # test leader it will only break you leader and you will get almost everything back. I don't think it really matters in a paylake. Its pretty easy to recover your float and straw. Having a tough leader makes it less likely that a shovel will fray your leader and break it. On a side note, I'd pay for some of Jason's leaders with hook and swivel. They're really sweet.
