They were hitting a little of everything, Creek chubs, Mackrel, shinner, and leechy head. It was the first time I had caught fish with different baits. Usually it is one bait that gets hot, but that night they were hitting anything I put out. I wish I would have caught the one that got off, he was huge. I was using a rock bass about 7 inches long, I should have let him run with it a little longer before I set the hook. I best think about that night was I caught 3 of the 5 fish on my new rod and reel, Browning Ocean Master and a 11 foot Catmax rod. Rod and reel handled fine. Fish on! My next trip out will be 5/12, I would go this weekend but my son has his first communuion.

Another good night of fishing. I always take my youngest boys with me and they love it. I started around 1:20 AM and by 5:00 Am I had lost two and hit 5 shovel heads. They were 25,20,20,15,12. The big fish of the week was 51.2 , 50.3 , 47 and 44. Fishing was great but one of my boys got sick and I had to leave the lake around 6:00 AM

May go there this week. When do they allow night fishing? How busy are they at night?

They have been night fishing for about a month. The lake is open form 7:00 am Friday - 6:00 PM Sunday. I believe they will be opening earlier satring this week or next. They will start opening on Wednesday at 7:00 am. Night fishing can get crowded but the lake is huge and has a lot of fishing areas. The fish are all over the lake.

Not very happy with Catman Blues at the moment. I caught a 43.5 pound blue last season and we live pretty far from there. Caught it almost at the end of the season and the owner Treva told me when I called her that if we were not able to make it back up there by the end of the season my money, which I came in second and son came in third, which he won a free ticket and I won almost 60.00 bucks, would be there the following season. My son went fishing there at the very start of the season and she told him that we could no longer get our money or his free ticket as she had thrown away the books, which is bullcrap if you know anything about tax laws she is required to keep her books for at least 5 years. So needless to say I will be up there soon to see if she will give me my money or not and if not I will be holding a sign across the street from her lake telling people not to fish there because she will not pay you your money. So needless to say I feel ripped off by Catman Blues at the moment and not very happy with her. I have also heard that they are not stocking the lake as they use to because they are building a huge house next to the lake and are using their money on their house and not stocking the lake. So hopefully when I get up there I can ammend this post and say that she has given me my money or else I will be finding another lake to fish at which is sad because I really do like this lake, but if they are no longer stocking because of money problems then they are going to start having even worse money problems because people will no longer be fishing there without the lake being stocked like they use to stock it. So good luck to whomever goes fishing there and I hope you are not as unlucky as me and am able to get your money or your free ticket if you win anything.

Sorry to hear about that Kathy, I have been fishing there for that last year and a half and have never ran into a problem with the lake paying out. Treva may have lost her books, If by chance that did happen you cant blame her for not wanting to payout based on someone saying that they are owed something. The house is in the same state it was when I first started fishing there last year so I dont believe they are putting money into either at this time. I do know this, when you do go to the lake you get treated fairly and there are always big fish being caught. Any lake that post high 40's and 50's for top 4 big fish of the week doesnt have a problem with fish being in the lake. If you do plan on holding up your sign across the street, becareful it is a busy road and not very wide, LOL. But seriously I hope you do come back and things get taken care of in your favor. I see you posted something about your son going to cozy dale, This is the lake you should be worried about, they flat out do wrong things all the time. Let your son know to be careful when fishing that lake. I hope I didnt offend anyone with this post.. If you see me out at catmans stop over and say hi. Big guy in a little escort.. Take care. and FISH ON!

Fishing Report....... I hit Catman Blues on the evening of 05/18/07. Bad new first. I was about a 1/2 mile from the lake when I was going through the intersection of 132 and Nicolsville, a 16 year old driver who had his licence for 2 days pulled in front of me and I hit him in the side, ,everybody was ok, but my white escort that I have been fishing out of for the past 10 years will no longer be on the road. This is why I wasnt at the touny on Sunday. The good new is fishing was great, I caught a total of 5 .... 15,22,26,30,32 pund fish all were shovels except fot he 15 pound. My friend hit 6 the biggest was 49.3 pound blue. They were hitting anything you put into the water. We missed 5 runs and had three break off's . It was a good night of fishing. The big fish of the week when we left was 49.9,49.7,49.3,44.9 .... Some solid fish being caught at catmans.

You got it Randy, I was there Sunday night for the holiday tournament. Man it was unbelievable, I fished from 8:30pm-8:30 am and seen about 15 very large fish caught (40-50 pound fish ), and many more in the 25-40 pound range. I unfortunately caught only 2 a 15 and 25 pound shovel head. They had a contest this week that paid out 7 places, when I left that morning 1st was 53.8 and 7th was 49.5 the rest was in between. The lake was on fire. I didnt get to fish my normal spot but there are fish all over that lake. Randy I will give you a shout the next time I head up, I have only fished the lake for the past two years so I am still learning it. But I do have some favorite spots that have old creek beds running though it and some good ledges and holes. This lake is by far the best lake I have fished and the owners are good people. I can't wait to try Cedar, but with the way fishing is going here it will be hard to try another lake.
