If they are not designed for paylake fishing, they should not be purchased for paylake fishing. As I have said, I have many fisherman who love their emcast rods. But I also see them break when used at my lake many more times than any other rod does.(excluding the sealine) Reguardless of whether its the rods fault or the fishermans fault, bottom line is that they break. I'm sure the are much better suited for the ocean enviroment. However I spend a lot of my winter fishing in the Gulf & in the Keys, and graphite would definately NOT be my choice.

you know they are surf rods...... Not paylake rods...... Maybe i need to make some rods for paylakes only and get rich.... I have seen just about every kind of rod broke while fishing preditors, eagle claws, emcast, catmax..... Owell i guess its the nature of the beast....

emcast is the most popular rod at our lake also. but, with the total number of broken emcast rods at 23 now, i believe it is the rod, NOT the user.

I have thrown 12 inch baits a country mile and have reeled in tires with that rod. You would have to be abusing the rod somewhere along the lines in order for it to break. Maybe cracked it while packing up or something.

i cant see breaking these rods either without them being abused or setting a hook way to hard.
