Only fish this set up for a year now, bought the rods down and wholesale in hamilton. Never had a problem, and I got a two and half year old that likes to get into daddy things and bang them around.

well fellows ive been reading this post and let me tell u i have a 12ft XXH emcast with 25 big game on a Tica reel. When u set the hhok with this log it is serious lol i cant imagin breaking this rod , i hit a 50lbs blue at CP1 the other day with it and i mean i swung and hit him solid with no breaks there or during the fight to the net.
on the other hand u must consider a prodcution flaw in the ones at the above lake ??

Don't turn your back on these rods because of a bad batch!!! These are good rods, I'm not saying there the best, but for the price I don't think you can beat them.

My garbage man would disagree. He has hauled off many broken pieces of them. They are junk!

big hickory u have gave some good info on this board since i became a member , however i cant see ur logic ? Im telling u u could take my 12ft XXH emcast tie it to a tree run back and set the hook and ill gaurentee u it wont break lollol , the ones u seen people having problems with are they 12 XXH or just 11ft H???

dude its not the rod...... its the user. you cant throw a rod in the bed of your pickup, hit a turn doing 80, then hit some speed bumps at 60 and expect you rod not to break.... Larry knows why surf rods break at these paylakes... He is one of the most knowledgeable guys about rods and gear that i have ever met... I have seen st. croix break, preditors break, ulgy sticks break,, all rods will break.... you cant do a over head hook set and expect you rod not to break.... it puts the rod into a bind..

I must admit, I have never seen a 12' emcast break. But have seen many 11' emcast broken this year.

all the ones ive seen break have been 11' ive never seen a 10' or a 12' break. ive caught alot of big fish on my 10 ftrs and i dont see them breaking anytime soon. imo its how you treat your rods if you bang them around and throw them down there prolly gonna end up breaking.

I don't know about you guys but I paid alot of $ for my gear and expect it to last a long time, as far as banging stuff around if you like you stuff like I like mine it rides in the cab with me. By the way I am a garbage man, seen a few emcast, few ugly stix and a couple of other name brands in the trash. If you got the money to spend hell drag them behind the truck that will be a good test, but I'll keep my emcasts and my 7000 rockets in the passenger seat. The wife can ride in the back. Just kidding, she knew I wrote that she'd drag me behing the truck.

Thats funny. I always have mine secured and padded. I paid way to much and it twould take way to long to replace them. I have had a problem with my Ocean Master sticking together when it sets out in the sun. I like to make sure it is fit together nice and snug so there are no malfunctions, but it has been a rough time pulling it apart. I have found out by putting a little cold water on the rod to cool it down it comes right apart nice and easy. I paid $139 for it and so far it has been outstanding, I would hate to break it while trying to pry it apart, but the cold water does the trick. Just a heads up.

yeah i have a couple of my rods like that that are hard to break down sometimes but i just turn the top the opp. way as i do with the bottom 1/2 and they come right apart. But yeah cold water will help out real good. the sun swell's the f.glass and make it hard to break down. thats why the rods are prob. breaking, not saying it is trhe reason but could be some of the prob. if the rods are breaking at the 2 points wehre the rods go together. might be something in the material they are useing that might swell more then otehr rods. just a thought..
