emcast is the most popular rod at our lake also. but, with the total number of broken emcast rods at 23 now, i believe it is the rod, NOT the user. I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When using graphite it has to be treated differently than a fiber rod. Dropping the rod on a hard surface will caused hairline fractures then causing the break when understress. Does this sound reasonable?

like i said before, i have never seen a daiwa sealine rod broken, and they are graphite. the sealine X rod before them, graphite, and never saw one broken. emcast, graphite, 23 broken at our lake since this rod was put on the market. i truly believe that there is a design flaw in the making of this rod, whether it be in the construction or in the mix of their grahite "recipe"

you get what you pay for w/ rods, all the different quality levels of grafite, components , i have an emcast 10' , but just handling it you can tell this rod was not built for ruggedness, the toughest blanks on surf rods i've seen is gLoomis, St.croix, Ocean Master, Ugly stick, i've wasted my fair share of money on all kinds of rods, the two toughest rods i think i own are a 12' gLoomis surf rod and my 11' Ocean Master, if you spend the xtra money on the st.croix or gLoomis you get awesome no questions asked warranties, but when its all said and done it all comes down to what you can afford, thats my 2 cents

total agree. but i do like the beef stix and the nite stix, they are a great rod for the money. i have 2 11ft. master casting rods and they seem to be good to, ive only used them 2 times so far and caught 7 fish on them and they seem to be ok.

yeah the nite stix seem to be the most affordable best built rods out there to me, though the price of them has gone up over the years, but you will not see more rods on the banks of paylakes than the nite stix, i have the 10' (Pro) nite stick and an 11' but the guides aren't the best on them, other than that geeze i've seen dudes at cp1 on the highway side drag 20lb fish up the bank w/ them i wouldn't do that w/ an emcast

hi hows every body doing? anyway i have two ten footers and an eleven foot emcast, my youngest boy and me went to cp2 this past sun. and boys let me tell ya we destroyed them well in our eyes lol, we caught 22 fish from 5- 37lb. and then went thurs. and took my wife and oldest step son we caught 16 ranging from 5-20lb. i personaly caught 26 of those fish and when i set the hook i dont run half way through the woods i reel all the slack and turn and double the rod over on there a**! and unless abused i dont think its possible to break these rods on the hook set or the fight.

maybe all the broken rods from one place is just a production flaw from Daiwa? i've seen my friend get snagged saugeye fishing in the Miami with a gLoomis spinning rod and was just pulling back and forth trying to free it and it snapped , i've never had a problem with any of mine Maybe Daiwa ran a bad batch?

Anytime something is being manufactured something can go wrong. Wrong formula of materials or a bad batch of something being used to make the rod. If all those rods were bought around the same time that broke then there very well could have been a flaw in the manufacturing. With some people having rods that work fine and others that break, it seems to me that there probably was a bad batch, or they had a problem and have now corrected it. You would think they would have re-called things if that was the case, unless they are being cheap.
